Brad Marchand didn’t even play on Sunday, but he still found a way to be in the spotlight on social media.
The NHL’s officiating has been a hot topic this season, with more and more fans, players, coaches, and experts going out and criticizing. It seems like this season, more than ever before, people in hockey find themself disagreeing with officials.
Brad Marchand isn’t exactly a shy guy on the ice. He’s earned himself a reputation for being the ultimate rat, and during his career, he earned himself several suspensions. He often shows it when he’s not happy with a call, and that has been the case many times over the years.
And now, he’s done it again. But what’s funny is that it didn’t even involve him or the Boston Bruins. During Sunday’s matchup between the Kings and the Ducks, a big scrum occurred. Goaltender Phoenix Copley received a five-minute major for punching with his blocker. It wasn’t the most controversial call in NHL history, but Marchand thought so.
He took to social media to express his disappointment with Copley’s not receiving a harsher penalty. Marchand pointed out that he received a six-game suspension for doing something way less, at least according to him.
He even said that Copley, compared to Marchand, ”got away with murder.”
”I got 6 games for a love tap, he got off with murder if you wanna compare apples,” Marchand wrote on Twitter.
We all love when stars speak their minds, and we hope Marchy doesn’t get fined or see any consequences for his words.
