Peter Forsberg could do just about anything. He was a physical player, always played with silky mitts, and could make plays that nobody on the ice saw coming.
If you look at Forsberg’s resume, you quickly understand why many consider him one of the best Swedish players of all time. When in his prime, few players in the world were better, and he has two Stanley Cups to his name.
Peter Forsberg played 708 games in the NHL, scoring 249 goals and recording 885 points.
Peter Forsberg’s greatest strength was physical play, and he didn’t back down for anyone. He always stood up for himself and his teammates despite playing against some of the toughest players in NHL history.
But Forsberg also had some great teammates playing in the Swedish league and for the Colorado Avalanche, Philadelphia Flyers, and Nashville Predators.
When speaking to Swedish outlet Sportbibeln, Forsberg picked out his five best teammates throughout his career. The result is quite impressive.
GOALIE:
Patrick Roy.
”Patrick read the game so well. He was a goalie for the big games. When we won the Stanley Cup in 1996, he shutout Detroit in the game that made the series 3-0. He played incredible och did so many saves. I couldn’t believe it. He was so good for us skaters as well. He really cared for us and that made us playing at our highest level.”
DEFENSEMEN:
Ray Bourque.
”One of the best players of all time, in my books. I had the privilege to play with him and in 2001, it was thanks to him we won the Cup.”
Rob Blake.
”He had such a hard shot, and he could skate really well. He could actually be really mean on the ice, if he just wanted to. He had that in him, and it was very valuable for us as a team.”
FORWARDS:
Milan Hejduk.
”His ability to score goals was hard to beat. He was always at the right place as it got hot. He was never shy to do the dirty-work, just so he could score.”
Joe Sakic.
”What’s there to say, really? One of the best players of all times. He had it all; skating, IQ and an incredible slapper. He was all-round and one of the best two-way forwards, who did just about anything for the team.”
Markus Näslund.
”We played together in Modo, in Sweden. He could score out of any angle, at any time. He was the rock of the team. And it wasn’t just for his play on the ice. He was a great person to have outside the ice.”
