Ryan Reaves brings something different to the team. He’s not the best goalscorer in the NHL, and his abilities with the puck are limited. But he’s one heck of a fighter and strong as an ox. Reaves has been a well-liked teammate for the New York Rangers players since arriving from the Vegas Golden Knights in 2021.
Reaves has been playing a typical fourth-line role for the last season, but in the previous weeks, he’s been falling out of the pecking order, and Julien Gauthier has often taken his place in the lineup instead.
eaves has been a healthy scratch in seven of the last eight games, and something needed to change.
According to the New York Post, Ryan Reaves and his agent asked the Rangers general manager for a trade earlier this week.
Rangers took the opportunity to clear out some well-needed cap space by trading Reaves to the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday. In exchange for Reaves, the Rangers received a 2025 fifth-round draft pick.
Reaves has played for St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vegas Golden Knights, and New York Rangers in his career and can now add the Minnesota Wild to that list. And although he never played with the Wild, he’s certainly played against them.
Earlier this season, Reaves was in a wild brawl with Wild’s Marcus Foligno. Reaves definitely won that fight, and to rub it in, he posted a picture from the fight on his Instagram. But, of course, the Instagram post isn’t a great look now that Reaves and Foligno are teammates.
But as it turns out, Reaves has promised to delete the Instagram post.
”Reaves told me he’ll probably delete this off his Instagram,” wrote Michael Russo, writer covering the Minnesota Wild for The Athletic, on Twitter.
The photo is still not deleted, but that could change soon.
