The Boston Bruins pulled off an incredible comeback on Tuesday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. With half the game played, the Pens were up 5-2, but after three consecutive assists from Hampus Lindholm, the Bruins tied the game to five.
In overtime, Lindholm scored a great solo goal to give Bruins the W. Hampus Lindholm was the man of the match, no doubt, but it was a night to remember for young center Jakub Lauko as well.
The 22-year-old thought he scored his first NHL game weeks ago, but after a coach’s challenge for offside. This time, nothing stopped him from celebrating his first goal in the league.
The goal came after Nick Foligno carried a puck up the left wing before serving Lauko a wide-open chance to score, and he didn’t miss. It was a big moment for Lauko, and the goal saw Boston into a 2-1 lead.

This was just Lauko’s sixth game in the NHL, but he’s been getting a lot of play time as David Krejci recovers from an upper-body injury. The Bruins fans have praised Lauko for how well he’s getting along in the NHL, and his popularity increased even more after his first goal.
Lauko got the game puck as a souvenir from the game, and afterward, he revealed what he was planning to do with it. And it just melts everyone’s heart.
As it turns out, he’s giving the puck to the parents of a Czech friend named Ondrej Buchtela, that passed away due to cancer.
“I made a promise to my dying friend two years ago I would make it to the NHL. It’s going to his mother,” Lauko said, per Joe Haggerty of Boston Hockey Now.
