Nobody is bigger than Wayne Gretzky in hockey history, and many of his incredible records will never be beaten by anyone. He will always be The Great One, and no figure, when you’ve scored 894 goals and made a sensational 2 857 points in the National Hockey League.
Wayne Gretzky is the only player who has his number, 99, retired in the league, and it’s amazing to think of just how superior he was. But how did he exactly get so good?
Well, we know for sure it wasn’t for his pre-game routine.
In his autobiography, Gretzky reveals what he did before every game he played in the league, and well, let’s just say it’s not exactly as professional as many might have thought. Instead, it involved several soda cans and an intentional miss when he took his first shoot.
”I get dressed the exact same way every day: Left shin pad, left outer pad, then right, same order, left sock, hockey sock, shin pad, then pads, then left skate, right skate, shoulder pads, then left elbow pad, right elbow pad, sweater, tuck the right side in, go out on the ice for warmups, always miss the first shot wide right, come in after the warmups, have a Diet Coke, an ice water, a Gatorade, then another Diet Coke.”
Who would have thought that this was something from the G.O.A.T?
