This sequence is just as painful to watch as it probably was humiliating for defenseman MacKenzie Weegar. During one of Sunday’s early games between the Buffalo Sabres and the Florida Panthers, Sabres’ defenseman Rasmus Dahlin had the puck in the offensive zone. Dahlin – who’s done his best season yet in the NHL – saw Weegar coming at him at full stride and quickly made his move.
To say that Rasmus Dahlin was prepared for the hit would be an understatement, and he quickly got out of the way in one of the silkiest moves all year.
Weegar didn’t see the move coming, and instead of making a hit on the Swede, Weegar slammed into the boards at full speed. Luckily, he wasn’t injured, but let’s guess that his ego might have taken a turn and that he will feel some pain in his body when he wakes up today.
Rasmus Dahlin has been praised for his offensive plays in recent weeks, and by now, he’s on pace to break 50 points for the first time in his career. This year is Dahlin’s fourth season with the Sabres, and he’s on 150 points in 265 games.
