The crowd at Pepsi Center got to see some old school action last night. Nathan MacKinnon put in a huge hit on Ondrej Palat, which sparked a line brawl.
Two of the top teams in the league squared of last night as the Colorado Avalanche hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning. The guests sealed the victory late in the third period setting a new franchise record and extending the winning streak to 11.
The game had a feeling of a playoff matchup with a fast paced action involving several big hits. Late in the third period with the game the game tied at three, Nathan MacKinnon decided to inject some new energy into his team.
Ondrej Palat charged for a hit, with MacKinnon answering with dropping the Lightning forward to the ice. The Lightning wouldn’t let MacKinnon slip away, and a line brawl erupted following the hit.
Nikita Kucherov sealed the victory in overtime for a 4-3 victory over the Avalanche.
