There are many different types of play-by-play announcers in the NHL. But surely, John Shorthouse at the Rodgers Arena in Vancouver is one unique guy.
During the broadcast of the Blues game last night, he answered a fan screaming – on air.
The Canucks play-by-play announcer John Shorthouse has been calling plays since starting in 1993.
“Shorty” made his NHL debut as an announcer in 1998 and has been at the heart of the Canucks broadcast ever since.
Last night, during the Blues game at Rogers Place, Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler seamed to trip Jaden Schwartz. The referee didn’t blow his whistle, which made a fan in the crowd to react.
“What the fuck was that”, someone screamed inside the stadium.
While continuing announcing the play-by-play, Shorthouse delivered a great one liner replying to the fan.
This is why the NHL has some of the very best announcers!
