Brad Marchand Delivers Nasty Check to Andrew MacDonald

It seems as if Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand makes headlines after each contest he participates in. April 1st against the Philadelphia Flyers was no different. Marchand likes playing mind games, but clearly played head games in Boston’s 4-3 lost to the Philadelphia Flyers.

On the Power Play and down by one, Marchand and Flyers’ defenseman Andrew MacDonald got tangled up on the half-boards after MacDonald stepped up to hit Marchand. It seemed like a normal hockey play as the Flyers iced the puck, but what happened behind the play may net Marchand another suspension.

After throwing the check to Marchand, MacDonald ended up on his rear on the ice. In a vulnerable position, Marchand straight cross-checks the unprotected MacDonald right in the head. Thankfully MacDonald skated off and was all right and Marchand received a 2-minute minor for Cross Checking. The boneheaded play ended up ruining the Bruins’ power-play and left the Flyers on the man-advantage.

Marchand not only has a history of some questionable/dirty plays, but the forward has been suspended this season for hitting New Jersey Devils’ forward Marcus Johansson in the head with his flying elbow.

No doubt the NHL will be looking at this play and it wouldn’t surprise me to see Marchand in the press-box from a suspension.
