Sometimes when it’s one against the world, the little guy wins.
Andreas Borgman took the puck in his own end at the 8:42 mark of the third period, and didn’t give it up until he scored at the 8:24 mark. Borgman dipsy-doodled around the entire Laval Rocket opposition and netted a beautiful goal.
As mentioned, Borgman corralled the puck in his own end and flew up the ice with his head up. Borgman continued to stick-handle flawlessly around the Rocket defense (and evade checks) before he found an opportunity at the top of the slot. Then, he let the puck go and it tickled the twine for a thriller of a goal. The place erupted and got quite a reaction from the commentary team.
This was a huge goal as the Toronto Marlies and Laval Rocket aren’t fans of one another and the goal was salt in the wound as Laval was already trailing.
Borgman is no stranger to scoring. The young defenseman from Sweden has racked up 7 goals in the NHL/AHL this season and has scored at multiple levels in Sweden. Borgman has 8 points in 19 games.
