Marchand Fires Great Chirp at Babcock and Leafs

The Boston Bruins have been one of the league’s most dominant teams over the course of this season. Which means it’s no surprise that the B’s would be on the radar of every playoff hopeful team. Boston has played terrific hockey and may even overtake Tampa Bay for top spot in the East.

Their success has not gone unnoticed, especially to Maple Leafs Head Coach Mike Babcock. During a press conference, Babcock was asked if he had managed to catch any of the playoff teams in action. Babcock talked about some of the Western teams he had seen before switching over to an Eastern Conference rival.

“…I switched over and watched Minny and Boston, and I saw Boston make 15 plays in two minutes during the power-play, and so I just shut it off.”

The comment received laughs from media members in the press conference.

Sportsnet tweeted out the exchange and it didn’t take long for a certain player on Boston to chime in with his thoughts. Marchand logged into Twitter and replied to Sportsnet and the Maple Leafs, saying “It’s called playing mind games.”

Marchand is the kind of player that thrives off opportunity – whether it be on the ice or sending a tweet. The Bruins are certainly playing mind games with their opponents, as the team without key players still manages to rack up points and be a Stanley Cup contender.

After Marchand took a jab at Babcock and Sportsnet, it didn’t take long for Sportsnet to respond. Sportsnet replied with a gif of Marchand reading a book titled “Who’s a Pest?”

Hopefully this won’t be the last exchange between Sportsnet and Marchand
