Brad Marchand roasts Paul Bissonnette with hilarious chirp

Everything was going just fine in Brad Marchand’s post-game interview with the NHL on TNT panel. But the Florida Panthers star couldn’t let the opportunity slip—and without any warning, he delivered the most brutal chirp directed at Paul Bissonnette.

Boston BruinsThe hockey world was in shock when the Boston Bruins announced they’d traded their captain and face of the franchise, Brad Marchand, to the Florida Panthers at the trade deadline earlier this year. Marchand has always been one of the most polarizing players in the NHL—beloved by his teammates but hated by opposing fanbases for his gritty play and cheap shots.

When Marchand joined the Florida Panthers, one of the rattiest teams in the NHL, everyone knew the fit would be perfect. And so far, they’ve been absolutely right. Marchand and the Panthers have been a perfect match, and they’ve started the playoffs in terrific fashion. On Thursday, they won their second straight game in Tampa to take a 2–0 series lead over their rivals, and Marchand has recorded one point—an assist—so far in the series.

Brad Marchand burns Paul Bissonnette

It was an obvious choice for the NHL on TNT crew to go with Marchand for a post-game interview during Thursday’s broadcast, especially given his ongoing feud with panelist Paul Bissonnette. Over the years, the two have chirped each other at every opportunity—at one point, things got so heated that BizNasty even showed up to a broadcast wearing bandages and a neck brace, jokingly claiming to be emotionally wounded by something Marchand had said.

But during Thursday’s interview, everything seemed fine at first. Paul Bissonnette didn’t even ask Marchand a question—but out of the blue, the Florida veteran delivered one of the most savage chirps of the night, while talking about the intensity of the playoffs.
“These are the series that you want to be a part of. They’re a lot of fun, they’re very intense and very emotional,” Marchand said of the series against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
“Obviously, you guys all know. Well, Biz may not, but when you get to that level, it’s a lot of fun out there.”

Marchand’s hilarious response

The panel immediately burst out laughing at Marchand’s shot—but Bissonnette refused to bite. Instead, he shifted the conversation to his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.
“No, I’m going to decline questioning. But tell him, if he’s lucky enough, we’ll talk in the second round. My Leafs are going to whack ’em—if he’s lucky enough to get there. Go-Leafs-Go all year, so that’s pretty much all I’m gonna say,” Bissonnette replied.

Marchand was quick to fire back.
“Yeah, I heard him loud and clear. That’s the only thing he talks about these days. I see it everywhere,” he said.
