The Toronto Maple Leafs have had a terrific start to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They are leading their series against the Ottawa Senators 2–0 after winning 6–2 in the first game and 3–2 in overtime last night, thanks to a goal from Max Domi. After securing the win, captain Auston Matthews and Morgan Rielly celebrated in their own classic way.
The Battle of Ontario is in full swing, with two very intense games in Toronto where the Maple Leafs came out on top. They now head to Ottawa with a 2–0 lead in the series. This will be the first playoff hockey Ottawa fans have seen since the Senators’ Eastern Conference Final appearance in 2017. Though a bit shaken after two straight losses, the Senators will likely put up a fight on home ice.
Matthews and Marner play the violin
Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews and fellow superstar Mitch Marner added fuel to the fire after their win last night. During their celebration, the two pretended to play the violin using their sticks—a nod to a tradition that didn’t go unnoticed by the Senators’ players. Both Auston Matthews and Morgan Rielly have started the playoffs very strong, tallying three and two points each in their first two games. Next game is played in Ottawa on April 24. You can watch the celebration in the video below.
