The Montreal Canadiens have a whole stable of young talent bursting onto the big stage, and many experts believe they’ll be top contenders in the coming years. But the most buzz of all surrounds 19-year-old Russian sensation Ivan Demidov. Now, the Canadiens have revealed just how many jerseys they sold on Demidov’s debut night.
Ivan Demidov made quite the entrance into the NHL. Drafted fifth overall in 2024, he was called over from Russia just a week ago—and he’s already making a big impact in his new environment. In his very first period of NHL hockey, Demidov notched one goal and one assist. He also signed a massive sponsorship deal with Warrior, the hockey gear and apparel brand—even before playing his first NHL game.
“It’s the biggest in Warrior’s history. They’ve said Ivan will be their most important client. Today, he’s playing in Bauer gear, but starting next season, he’ll switch to Warrior for three years and become the face of their brand,” Dan Milstein, Demidov’s agent, told RG the other day.
Ivan Demidov breaking records
Now, it turns out the hype is spreading among Canadiens fans like wildfire. During Demidov’s debut NHL game, the Canadiens broke their all-time record for jersey sales during a game. Jerseys with Demidov’s name sold for over $250,000. Not bad for just one game. Imagine where the Canadiens could be in a few years!
