Ivan Demidov is only 19 years old and has been in the NHL for just a few days, but he has already made quite an impression on most fans. After scoring two points in his very first period in the league, a new video is now stunning hockey fans even more.
Ivan Demidov was drafted fifth overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2024 draft but remained in Russia for most of the 2024–2025 regular season. Playing for SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL, the 6’0”, 192-lb forward recorded 19 goals and 30 assists for 49 points in 65 games. But when the Canadiens faced the Chicago Blackhawks earlier this week, the young Russian finally made his NHL debut. With two points — one goal and one assist — it’s no exaggeration to say that he has impressed most hockey fans in his short time in the league. And now, a new video from a Canadiens practice has left fans stunned.
Ivan Demidov’s Practice Skills
A video posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) shows Ivan Demidov practicing with his new teammates — and it’s nothing short of impressive. The 19-year-old displays incredible speed along with elite puck and stickhandling skills. Of course, it’s just a practice session, but the clip has already racked up thousands of likes and plenty of praise in the comments.
“My brother in Christ, this is practice,” one Habs supporter writes on X.
“Reminds me of Kovalev’s skill, but with better feet,” another comments.
