Linus Ullmark’s amazing reaction after making ”save of the season”

Linus Ullmark has had a sensational week. Just days after delivering his best performance of the season with a 48-save effort against the Detroit Red Wings, he pulled off what might be the save of the year—against his former team, the Boston Bruins. Even the opposing fans couldn’t help but applaud.

Ottawa Senators‘ Ullmark is one of the NHL’s top goalies, and he’s certainly proven it over the past few days. On Monday, he made 48 (!) saves against the Red Wings, and on Thursday, he produced a viral moment with one of the best saves of the season—against none other than the Bruins.

Boston defenseman Mason Lohrei received a perfect pass from Marat Khusnutdinov and had a prime scoring chance, but out of nowhere, Ullmark launched himself through the air, snagging the puck with his glove just before it crossed the goal line. It was, without a doubt, one of the most spectacular saves of the 2024-25 season, and it dominated social media.
“I basically played (Marat Khusnutdinov) one-on-one,” Ullmark told the New York Times. “He makes a great pass cross-seam, and I don’t really see it. But at the same time, I’m just trying to get my footing and throw myself in there. I see the puck, and I can extend my arm to catch it. It happened in the spur of the moment, but I’m happy I found a way to throw myself in there and didn’t quit on it.”

Linus Ullmark’s awesome reaction

Drake Batherson had the best view of the play from just in front of the net—and postgame, he revealed Ullmark’s wholesome reaction to the save.
“It was unreal,” Batherson said. “I had a front-row seat to it. It was a pretty amazing stop, and he was smiling ear-to-ear when he got up with the puck in his glove.”

Yes, Ullmark actually laughed after realizing he had pulled it off.
“I was just laughing,” he said. “Sometimes, you wonder, ‘How did that happen? Like, how? What led up to that? How did I get here?’ You just have to smile and laugh about it because, well, you saved it. And then you move on and focus on the next one. You don’t want to make a brilliant save like that and then give up a bad goal right after because you’re too caught up in the moment, feeling like a stud. You’ve got to keep yourself grounded and focus on what’s next.”
