Brady Tkachuk’s grandmother’s hilarious reaction to 4 Nations fight

Matthew and Brady Tkachuk dropped the gloves just moments apart in an unforgettable game against Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off. Now, the brothers reveal their family’s reaction to the events—with some hilarious words.

Tensions were high ahead of the U.S.-Canada showdown in the 4 Nations Face-Off, and when the puck dropped, fans weren’t disappointed. Matthew Tkachuk was the first to drop the gloves, taking on Brandon Hagel.

Moments later, Brady Tkachuk squared off with Sam Bennett. And before the game even reached double-digit seconds, J.T. Miller engaged in a fight with Colton Parayko.

Tkachuk’s hilarious words about the fights

Team USA went on to win the game—one that will go down as one of the most thrilling and entertaining in recent history. Since the tournament ended, the Tkachuk brothers have appeared on TV shows and podcasts to talk about the chaos. Most recently, they joined the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, where they shared how no one in their family knew what was about to happen.
“Nobody knew, and honestly, it didn’t even cross our minds that we didn’t tell anybody in our family,” Brady said on the podcast, per HockeyFeed. “We were debriefing after the game with the fam, and of course, everybody was so excited.
“I guess my dad saw right off the draw that Matthew was going back with one glove off, and he tapped my mom and said, ‘You don’t really know what’s coming, but it’s happening,’” Brady added. “She’s like, ‘What are you talking about?’ Then the whistle blew, the gloves came off, and I guess my mom didn’t really handle it too well.”

Tkachuk’s grandmother’s reaction

Brady also shared that their grandmother had a similar reaction.
“I guess for like 15 minutes, she couldn’t believe what was going on,” Brady said of his mom. “Our grandma, it’s the same thing. She’s a little nervous, but I think she knows how we grew up and how we were always roughhousing.
“She’s accepted that’s just who we are as players, but on that stage, she was pretty nervous.”
