Jonathan Quick’s hilarious response to Henrik Lundqvist’s chirp

Jonathan Quick is officially the American goaltender with the most wins in NHL history. After reaching the milestone earlier this week, he received some praise—and chirps—from Rangers legend Henrik Lundqvist. And it didn’t take long for Quick to return the favor…

Jonathan Quick is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers of the modern NHL era. Earlier this week, he became one of just 14 goalies in league history to win 400 games. He’s also the first U.S.-born goalie to reach the milestone and the third active player to do so, after Marc-André Fleury and Sergei Bobrovsky.

Jonathan Quick has become an important piece in the Rangers’ locker room. Serving as the backup to star goalie Igor Shesterkin, he’s now more of a mentor, but every time he plays, he shows his qualities on the ice again after being the third-string goalie with the 2023 Stanley Cup-winning Golden Knights.

It’s special for Quick to play with the Rangers. The team hasn’t won a Stanley Cup since the mid-’90s, but they came close in 2014. Quick denied them that, as the Kings won their second championship in three years.

Jonathan Quick’s hilarious response

After the Rangers defeated the Bruins on Wednesday, Quick stopped by to chat with the NHL on TNT folks, and one of the panelists was Henrik Lundqvist, the goalie for the Rangers during the 2014 Finals. And, of course, he made some remarks about it.
“Again, congrats, 400 is a huge milestone,” Lundqvist first said. “Always been a huge fan of your game, but I have to say, I will never fully forgive you for beating me in ’14 in the Finals, but we move past that now.”

Later, Quick was asked if he feels just slightly bad for robbing Lundqvist of what would have been his only Stanley Cup, given “what a nice guy” he is. And Quick had the perfect response.
“Hank got the Vezina from me in 2012, so… I was in second place with more than a few votes, unfortunately. We’ll just call it even.”
