Martin Brodeur names the best save of his legendary career

Martin Brodeur is one of the all-time greats, widely regarded as the best goaltender of all time. He made countless breathtaking and important saves in his iconic career. But in his mind, one of his saves stands out from the rest.

It’s tough to argue with the statement that Martin Brodeur is the GOAT of goaltending. He’s the NHL’s all-time leader in wins (691), losses (397), and shutouts (125). He’s also the goalie with the most games played (1,266), and he’s the only goalie in NHL history with at least eight 40-win seasons. Brodeur also won four Vezina Trophies, and he holds the record for most goals scored by a goalie in league history (3).

Martin Brodeur made countless incredible saves during his impressive and legendary career. But if he had to choose one as his favorite, he has an answer that will make Canadian hockey fans smile.

Martin Brodeur names his best save

In an interview with the New York Post in 2018, as he was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame, he was asked to name one memorable save.
”Yeah, there’s a couple of them,” Brodeur said, chuckling.
”There’s one in the Olympics on Brett Hull in the gold-medal game in the third period — I made a save with my right pad on the goal line, the game was 3-2 at the time, and we took the puck from that save and made it 4-2 and almost clinched the gold medal for ourselves, so that’s one thing that comes to mind.”

The save on Hull was indeed spectacular, but knowing that Team Canada scored moments later and won gold, of course, makes it even better.
