Sidney Crosby sends a clear message about trade rumors

The blockbuster trade between the Colorado Avalanche and the Carolina Hurricanes this past weekend sent shockwaves through the NHL, sparking immediate speculation about Sidney Crosby’s future. Now, Crosby is setting the record straight with some clear and definitive words about his commitment to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

On Friday, Mikko Rantanen, one of the NHL’s most talented forwards, was traded from the Colorado Avalanche to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Martin Necas. This surprising move fueled rumors that the Avalanche might be positioning themselves to add another superstar center to their already stacked roster. Sidney Crosby’s name was quickly floated by fans and analysts alike.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have struggled in recent years, and their playoff prospects this season remain uncertain. Despite this, Crosby continues to perform at an elite level, leading some to wonder if the Penguins might trade their captain to give him another shot at winning the Stanley Cup elsewhere.

Sidney Crosby’s words about his future

Paul Bissonnette, podcast host of Spittin’ Chiclets and TNT analyst, has been vocal about his desire to see Crosby join the Avalanche. However, Crosby recently addressed the speculation head-on and made his stance unmistakably clear.
“I don’t worry [about] that stuff,” Crosby told The Athletic. “I’ve said I’m going to always be here. I just signed a new contract to be here. I’ve been very upfront about it — I’m a Pittsburgh Penguin.”

Crosby signed a two-year extension with the Penguins last September, which includes a full no-trade clause. Based on his latest comments, it seems clear he has no plans to leave Pittsburgh anytime soon.
