Blackhawks’ Nick Foligno penalized for mocking Kirill Kaprizov

Chicago Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno was called for a penalty and made his opinions about it crystal clear in the most hilarious fashion. The officials, however, didn’t find it as amusing, and Foligno turned his two-minute penalty into four.

The Chicago Blackhawks didn’t have the best Sunday as they played the Minnesota Wild at home. The Wild scored two quick goals in the first period, and seven minutes into the second, Nick Foligno was sent to the penalty box after an incident with Wild star forward Kirill Kaprizov. In an attempt to outmuscle Kaprizov for the puck, Foligno was called for a holding penalty—but he didn’t agree with the officials’ decision.

Nick Foligno mocks Kirill Kaprizov

As Foligno realized he was being sent to the penalty box, he tried to make a point that Kaprizov had embellished the play. In an exaggerated manner, he pretended to be Kaprizov, dramatically falling to the ice to show what his opponent had just done.

It was a hilarious move by Foligno, doing an impersonation to get his point across—but unfortunately, it didn’t work in his favor. Instead of just serving two minutes for holding, officials added another two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct. To make matters worse, the Minnesota Wild capitalized on the ensuing power play and ultimately won 4-2.
