One Pittsburgh Penguins fan came under fire on Monday after some very questionable behavior during the Pens’ home game against the Lightning on Sunday. The grown man stole a puck from a young fan, but now it’s been revealed that one of the players’ wives saved the day with an awesome gesture.
The Penguins lost to the Lightning on Sunday, but one fan had it worse than anyone else in attendance. A young fan worked long and hard to get a puck caught in the netting to fall so he could take it home as a souvenir. Eventually, he managed to free it, but an older fan was there to grab it first, and he refused to give it to the kid who’d worked so hard to get it.
Many in attendance saw what happened, and they quickly booed the man and chanted, “Give him the puck!” But the man refused, and eventually, he was seen walking up the stairs to loud jeers.
Player’s wife saves the day in Pittsburgh
That wasn’t the end of the story, though. According to PittsburghHockeyNow, Penguins’ families weren’t far from where everything happened, and one player’s wife, who remains unnamed, decided to take action. She apparently had a signed game puck in a locker at the arena and, with the help of an usher, went downstairs and gave it to the young fan. Her thoughtful gesture was met with loud cheers from other fans, and the boy celebrated by raising his arms in triumph.
However, PittsburghHockeyNow also reported that the older fan was still upset about something and decided to confront the young boy’s mother. A video of the player’s wife delivering the puck was shared on social media. While one fan tried his best to ruin the experience for the young boy and the entire Penguins crowd, we’re so glad one of the players’ wives went out of her way to make the young fan’s day.
