Josh Morrissey is having a perfect week so far. He was selected to represent Team Canada in the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off in February and celebrated with a couple of assists against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. Post-game, he had everyone laughing with a hilarious comment about Paul Bissonnette and the analyst’s infamous restaurant brawl.
Josh Morrissey is one of the best defensemen in the NHL, coming off seasons with 76 and 69 points. He’s started the 2024-25 season even better, with 25 points in 27 games, and night after night, he logs around 25 minutes of ice time.
Morrissey is also playing for one of the best teams in the league, the Winnipeg Jets, so it wasn’t a surprise that he was selected to represent Team Canada in the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off in February. Canada will face the USA, Sweden, and Finland in the tournament to compete for victory.
Josh Morrissey with two assists
Morrissey has been snubbed from being a finalist for the Norris Trophy over the last couple of years, but now he’ll at least get the chance to represent Team Canada in the first international tournament featuring only NHL players since the World Cup of Hockey in 2016.
Morrissey celebrated his selection with another stellar game against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. The defenseman played for 29:54 as the game went to overtime after ending 2-2 in regulation.
Morrissey’s comments on Paul Bissonnette
Morrissey assisted on Kyle Connor’s tying goal in the second period and then set up Adam Lowry for the game-winner after a great breakaway. Post-game, Morrissey joined Andi Petrillo, Keith Yandle, and Paul Bissonnette on NHL Coast to Coast on Amazon Prime to discuss the victory and his two assists.
It didn’t take long for him to drop a hilarious comment about Paul Bissonnette’s infamous restaurant brawl, where Bissonnette fought seven people, and six were arrested.
“I was skating down the ice there in OT, and I was pretty gassed,” Morrissey said.
“But I figured, if Biz can take on six guys, then I can get down the sheet one more time.”
