The Hurricanes played in Seattle against the Kraken on Saturday, but as they were heading to Vancouver for the next game of their road trip, things took an unexpected turn.
The Canes’ plane broke down, and they had to take a bus to Vancouver instead of flying ahead of their game against the Canucks on Monday, leading to some issues with the players’ eating habits.
Usually, the players would get a meal on the plane on their way to the next destination. But this time, due to the plane malfunction, they found themselves on a bus without any food in sight, so Brent Burns decided to take matters into his own hands.
Canucks hockey journalist Dan Murphy shared the hilarious story about how Burns took care of the Canes’ eating problem on his X account, and it immediately went viral, with fans claiming it’s one of the best stories of the year.

According to Murphy, Brent Burns got on the McDonald’s app and placed an order for all of his teammates. Although it’s not confirmed, it’s rumored that Burns, among other things, ordered no less than a hundred cheeseburgers.
But when the Hurricanes arrived at the restaurant, they quickly learned that the walk-in option was closed and that only the drive-thru was open. Burns tried to walk through it but was told by the staff that he needed a car to pick up his order, so he decided to get help from a kind stranger.

The star defenseman approached a driver—and remember, this was after midnight—and luckily, the random driver was kind enough to let him jump in the car and get his order.
After a lot of trouble, the Hurricanes could finally enjoy their cheeseburgers on their two-hour bus trip to Vancouver, thanks to Brent Burns. What a hero!
