The new Amazon Prime docuseries ’Faceoff: Inisde the NHL’ has brought something fans have longed for. Filmed during the last NHL season, it followed some of the league’s biggest stars in exclusive behind-the-scenes, showing a view of the everyday life of an NHL player.
The six episodes not only showed a glimpse of what Connor McDavid, David Pastrnak, Matthew Tkachuk, and other NHL stars went through during last year’s intensive season but also showed some great footage of the best rivalries and matchups during the playoff run.
The show has been a hit, with many absolutely loving getting a glimps of the everyday NHL life and what really goes down in an NHL locker room during important moments like the Stanley Cup Finals.
One of the most talked-about moments came from Connor McDavid crying in the dressing room after the devastating Game 7 loss in the Finals against the Florida Panthers.

David Pastrnak was also one of the stars featured in the series, appearing in Episode 1 called ’Best of Rivals,’ mainly focusing on Pastrnak and his Boston Bruins’ rivalry with the Toronto Maple Leafs during the playoffs, where Pastrnak’s long-time friend William Nylander also played.
The episode focused a lot on Pastrnak’s background, playing hockey in Czechia and Sweden before making it big in the NHL and becoming one of the league’s biggest stars. David Pastrnak’s father tragically passed away in May 2013 due to skin cancer, and in the show, Pastrnak talks a lot about how devastating it was for him, but also how it pushed him to achieve his dream of playing in the NHL, a dream he shared with his father.

When Pastrnak emotionally spoke about his dad in the series, a photo of a young Pastrnak was shown being held by an older man, assumingly his father. But as it turns out, it was rather a big mistake from Amazon, as the man holding Pastrnak wasn’t his father but the famous Czechian hockey player Jiri Dopita.
The mistake was first noticed in Czechia, with reporter Pavel Bartra writing about it, but since then, it’s also gone viral in the NHL community. Many slammed Amazon and those who made the documentary for such a big mistake, with some harsh comments on social media.
”Yikes indeed. That definitely seems like a large oversight,” one user said.
”I’ll never understand how this shit gets through all the levels of production and editing,” another said.
”How embarrassing for Amazon. They couldn’t fact check a documentary? Jesus,” a third added.
