If you ask a former NHL enforcer who’s the toughest and most fearsome player they ever come up against, chances are they will say Tie Domi.
Domi was a true enforcer, known for his incredibly tough playing style, but he was also a great player, which made him last in the league for 16 years. Domi played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, and Winnipeg Jets, and no matter where he was, his home fans always adored him.
Domi was a beloved teammate and someone who always stood up for those around him. When in Toronto, his main objective was to keep Mats Sundin safe and out of trouble while on the ice, and the two didn’t just share a great chemistry on the ice, but they also became best friends off it.

But it wasn’t as much fun being Domi’s opponent as it was being his teammate. To this day, Domi is the Maple Leafs’ all-time leader in penalty minutes, and he’s ranked third overall in NHL history.
He is also the player with the most fighting majors in NHL history, with 333, and he was pretty good at it as well. Domi is often mentioned as one of the best fighters in league history, and he was a complete nightmare to be up against if you did something he didn’t like.

Domi was, of course, also a master of the chirps, and he was known to be one of the most notorious trashtalkers of the game. One time, he was on a Reddit ’Ask me Anything,’ and was asked about the best chirp he ever gave—and to no one’s surprise, his answer was hilarious.
”Told one guy that if he didn’t leave my teammate alone that he’d be eating his Christmas dinner through a straw. Ended up a breaking his jaw. Which I felt sorry for,” Domi wrote.
What a menace!
