Brad Marchand was drafted in 2006 and has since become one of the most well-liked and prolific players of all time wearing a Boston Bruins jersey.
He’s played in over 1,000 games for the Bruins, and there’s rarely a dull moment with him.
Marchand won the 2011 Stanley Cup with the Bruins, but he’s perhaps most known for his antics on the ice, being described as a rat more than anything.
But Marchand has also been described as the perfect teammate, and everyone who’s ever played with him in Boston says the same thing: Few guys out there love their team as much as Marchand loves his Bruins.
Things perhaps haven’t gone as Marchand hoped for the last couple of years, with the Bruins not winning a Stanley Cup in 13 years.
But before this season, Marchand was rewarded with the captaincy after Patrice Bergeron retired.
During his first season with the ’C’ on his chest, Marhcand has stayed out of controversies for the most part and has been praised a lot for his leadership skills.
But there have also been rumors about Marchand’s future in Boston.
The organization has a lot to do with the roster this summer, and Marchand has been named as a player possible to trade.
But on Wednesday, Bruins GM shared his honest intentions for Marchand during the Bruins end-of-season press conference.
And he confirmed what most people have expected, that Marchand isn’t going anywhere.
”He will be a lifelong Bruin,” Sweeney said.
Marchand has one year left on his current contract, and it’s unclear whether he decides to retire after that or if he decides to stick around. But one thing seems certain: We’ll not see Marchand in another NHL jersey.
