It was a game that hockey fans will remember for a long time.
The New York Rangers and the New Jersey Devils started Wednesday’s game with a brawl involving all ten players on the ice right off the opening faceoff.
Fans loved every second of it, and Paul Bissonnette, co-host of the popular Spittin’ Chiclets podcast and TNT analyst, didn’t shy away from expressing his feelings about it.
”This has to be the greatest regular season in NHL history right??? I can’t remember something even close,” he said on X.
Fighting is truly back in the NHL, and Matt Rempe, the Rangers rookie gigant, was again at the center of attention.
He has a history with Devils’ Kurtis MacDermid after Rempe knocked Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler out of the game on March 11 with a high elbow.
Rempe was subsequently suspended for four games for the hit, but he refused MacDermid’s offer to fight twice in that game. Both early in it and after the hit on Siegenthaler.
In response to Rempe’s unwillingness to fight MacDermid, a huge line brawl broke out, leading to four players from each team receiving game misconducts just two seconds into the game.

“It was great to see the team responding that way and having each other’s backs out there,” said MacDermid. “l have a lot of respect for him (Rempe). He’s a young kid trying to do his thing. I understand that.”
Seeing eight players head for the locker room after just two seconds played was hilarious. What’s even greater was that TNT, which broadcasted the game, posted a video of how their analysts reacted to the fight.
Henrik Lundqvist, a former New York Ranger, loved every second of the fight. Everyone was off their seats to watch it, and the hype in the studio was real. We love to see behind-the-scenes like this, and it’s great to know that they enjoyed the fight just as much as fans did!
