Who doesn’t love a good hit? Last night the NHL-crowd got to see a real nice on – when Connor Murphy totally ended Taylor Leier.
Everyone loves a huge, clean hit. A solid hit can ignite the fans and the teammates on your bench. Timing a clean hit can sway momentum into your favor. The precision that comes with knocking an opposing player is a skill, especially when playing at high speeds.
Sometimes large hits could lead to injuries. But when they are clean, hits are a magnificent part of the game to witness. That’s what happened last night when Chicago Blackhawks’ defenceman Connor Murphy stepped up to drop an opposing player.
Textbook collision
In the second half of the first period, Murphy caught Flyers’ forward Taylor Leier with the body. Leier fumbled the puck and tried to relocate it. In doing so, he took his eye off the oncoming Murphy, who skated right through Leier. The collision was textbook and a fine example of a clean hit.
We shouldn’t be surprised that Murphy can hit like that as the young American defenceman has recorded 19 hits already this season.
