When the Boston Bruins won against the Buffalo Sabres this week, Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin stole the show despite his team losing 5-2.
Brad Marchand is one of the most polarizing players in the league. Some love him for being a unique character in hockey, but many also dislike him for his ratty behavior and constant cheap shots on the ice.
Throughout his years in the NHL, Marchand is the player who has served the most individual suspensions in league history. However, he has a rare ability to be on the right side of big hits, as it’s not often that he receives one.
During the game against the Sabres, Rasmus Dahlin absolutely bulldozed Marchand with a beautiful hit as they rushed into a board battle.
All players on the ice were involved in a scrum as they all tried to defend the respective stars.
“It’s our captain,” David Pastrnak, one of the players involved in the scrum, said. “We all know (Marchand) would do the same thing. It’s definitely important to have each other’s back. We’re building something here, so it was very important.”
The video of the massive hit on Marchand quickly went viral, with everyone absolutely loving how clean it was.
One big fan of the hit was P.K. Subban. We’re not really sure if Subban loved the hit from Dahlin or the fact that it was Marchand who was absorbing it, or a little of both, but he took to X, formerly Twitter, to reveal how big a fan of the hit he was.
“Love it!” he said on the social media platform.
During his career, P.K. Subban, when playing in Montreal, also laid a huge hit on Brad Marchand that had the Boston Bruins icon skate slowly to the bench in pain. And fans haven’t forgotten about it.
“Been there, done that?!” one responded to Subban’s post on X.
“We all know who did it better,” another said, posting a GIF of Subban’s hit on Marchand.
“Dahlin takes after you, P.K.,” a third added.
