Veteran forward Pat Maroon is now 35, but he hasn’t lost his chirping game. Maroon, now with the Minnesota Wild, played against the Florida Panthers in mid-October and had a busy game with emotions running high.
Maroon was, as he tends to be, in the center of attention after the whistles, and luckily for everyone who loves a good chirp, it was caught on a microphone.
Maroon was mic’d up during the game, and a video was posted on social media with some of Maroon’s best chirps, and it quickly made the rounds.
Maroon, a three-time Stanley Cup winner, was called a ’fat ass’ during the game, and he, of course, fired back with some great chirps.
”Oh, I’m fat! Good one,” Maroon said in response. ”You think I give a f**k? I’m still in the same league as you.
”Cool, come up with something different!”
Later in the game, Pat Maroon was involved in a hilarious interaction with Nick Cousins, whom he several times called a ’pu**y.’
“Don’t be a pu**y now,” Maroon said. “You chirp guys from the bench… f*cking fight him!”
It’s not the first time Pat Maroon has heard something about his weight. Last season, Boston Bruins cult play-by-play man Jack Edwards made comments about it, talking about Maroon’s supposed love of pizza. Edwards apologized for his comments, and the then-Tampa Bay Lightning player donated $2000 to a nonprofit that helps people struggling with mental health, bullying, and body image.
Pat Maroon won Stanley Cups with the St. Louis Blues and Tampa Bay Lightning, and he’s the only active NHL player to do so.
