Evander Kane is at it again with another undisciplined play, and this time, he may face suspension for it. Kane is a good player, and his physical presence is important for the Edmonton Oilers, but he’s also known for his hot temper and sometimes taking things a bit too far.
And last night, he did something that really didn’t help his team, and it was hard to explain why.
During Game 3 of the Oilers’ Round 2 playoff game against the Vegas Golden Knights, Vegas defenseman Alex Pietrangelo had the puck in his defensive end. Pietrangelo just stood with the puck, with the seconds running out, and everyone just waited for the horn to blow.
That’s when Kane took a run at Pietrangelo without any chance of getting the puck before the period was over, and after the horn blew, he cross-checked his opponent in the face.
Kane was assessed a two-minute minor for cross-checking, which also gave Vegas a power play to start the second period. Fortunately for Kane and the Oilers, the Golden Knights didn’t take advantage of the situation, but Kane may have a suspension coming his way.
Kane was also at the center of attention during Game 2, when he received a double minor and a 10-minute misconduct for roughing, as he took several shots at a defenseless player during a brutal scrum.
Kane was absolutely slammed on social media for giving Vegas a powerplay in such a way in Game 2.
”That was one of the most undisciplined penalties I’ve ever seen. The Golden Knights will start the second period on a power play thanks to an Evander Kane cross-checking penalty at the buzzer,” Oilers reporter Daniel Nugent-Bowman said.
But Kane was also mocked by his opponents. As the Vegas Golden Knights won Game 3 5-1, they couldn’t resist the urge to absolutely humiliate Kane with a burning statistic fact.

With his cross-checking minor at the end of the period, evander kane now has twice as many playoff penalty minutes (88 PIMs) against the Golden Knights than any other player in NHL history.
