Patrice Bergeron played in the Bruins’ final game of the regular season, but he received an early setback and hasn’t skated since. The Boston Bruins are well on their way to clinching a place in the second round of the playoffs, and they’ve done it without their captain.
When the Bruins played two straight games on the road against the Florida Panthers in the opening round of the playoffs, Bergeron had to watch from his couch.
There were hopes for him to play in Game 1, but he didn’t, and he didn’t even travel with the team for Games 3 and 4. The Bruins won both, and they only need one more to make it through to the next round.
Bergeron said it was a weird and terrible feeling to watch the game through a telly, and now, it looks like he’ll be returning to action in Game 5. The Boston Bruins broke all kinds of records during the regular season, and they’re the odds-favorite to lift the Cup later this season.
As soon as a player in Boston gets a chance to praise Patrice Bergeron, they’ll take it. He’s not just the captain; he’s an amazing player as well, and some important for Bruins’ offensive and defensive play. As they get him back in action, their chances for a Cup grows increasingly higher.
Bergeron isn’t just well-liked in the Bruins dressing room but also in the community. Now, a new Bergeron gesture has been shared, proving yet again what a tremendous captain he really is.
AHL writer Patrick Williams shared a great story of Bergeron told by Providence head coach Ryan Mougenel.
”He will reach out to young players in Providence who are struggling in some form. Not just a top prospect, but rank-and-file players,” Williams said on Twitter.
Coach Mougenel had this to say about it: “That’s just who he is. He is as genuine as they come.”
Patrick Williams wrote another Tweet: ”An NHL captain and first-ballot future member of the Hockey Hall of Fame doing that is just astounding.”
