Evander Kane has taken to social media to absolutely slam a LA King fan for his despicable behavior towards a 10-year-old girl wearing an Edmonton Oilers jersey at the team’s playoff game in LA.
The 10-year-old girl, named Cecily Eklund, was diagnosed with brain cancer when she was six and attended Game 3 last week at Crypto.com Arena. According to Fox News, she was a guest of Kane and the Ben Stelter Fund. Since being diagnosed with brain cancer, Eklund has become friends with the good guy Evander Kane.
When Kane found out how some Kings fans treated Eklund, he was furious, and on social media, he wrote a long message to the fans who treated the 10-year-old girl ”gross and completely unacceptable.”
“My dear friend [Cecily] got to go on an amazing trip to LA last week that created some incredibly fun memories. But some of her experience in LA, specifically at Game 3 of the game was not. I’m disgusted and appalled at what happened to this amazing little girl in the stands and in a woman’s restroom where she was harassed for wearing her jersey and was spit on by an LA fan for doing so,” Kane wrote on Instagram.
“This type of behavior is gross and completely unacceptable. For any young girl especially someone battling cancer to be treated in such a manner is pathetic. Grow up and as this smart young lady always says BE KIND!”
Since Kane’s message on social media, thousands of dollars have been donated to Eklund’s charity.

The 10-year-old girl also commented on the unacceptable behavior from the fans, saying that hockey in Edmonton is way nicer than watching it in LA.
“Watching hockey in LA is lots different than watching hockey in Canada. Edmonton fans are very different. I think if we can choose to be anything, we should choose to be kind,” she wrote on Instagram.
