It’s not usual for rookies to call out the league’s veterans, especially if the veteran in question is an enforcer. And we never thought we would see a rookie call out Ryan Reaves, who’s one of the toughest and most feared players in the league. But defenseman Brock Faber doesn’t seem to mind.
Faber just joined the Wild from the NCAA, where he’s been the captain for the University of Minnesota this season. Faber has 27 points in 38 games in the NCAA this season, which earned him some game time in the NHL. So far, he’s played two games in the big league, but he’s still not afraid to speak up against a veteran like Reaves.
During a meeting with the media, Faber was asked about his thoughts on the Wild locker room and what’s it like playing with Ryan Reaves.
”Yeah, he’s not that scary though … fake tough guy,” he said, laughing.
Of course, it was all a joke from Brock Faber, and luckily for us, Reaves was in the locker room, just right by Faber, and he had an awesome response.
”You better hope I re-sign here,” Reaves was heard saying.
If Reaves doesn’t end up re-signing with the Wild after this season, Faber better hope that Reaves goes easy on him when, or if, they play.
We’ll see how much Brock Faber will play when the playoff begins. So far, he’s played 21:49 and 18:19 during his two games in the league. That’s a lot of time on the ice for a fresh rookie, but the playoffs are a different thing. The Minnesota Wild play the Dallas Stars in the first round of the playoffs, with Game 1 starting on Monday.
