The matchup between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals wasn’t just a great game of hockey. It was also packed with stars in attendance.
Many celebrities were at the Madison Square Garden, including UFC icon Conor McGregor, and he received a lot of attention.
During the second period of play, things got heated as Tom Wilson, and Tyler Motte started a scrum. ESPN’s cameras caught McGregor’s reaction to it, and it was pure gold.
McGregor has made a living–a pretty hefty one as well–of fighting in the octagon, and it wasn’t a surprise he would enjoy seeing a brawl on the rink. As things got heated on the ice, and with Wilson and Motte throwing some punches at each other, cameras spotted the UFC icon looking genuinely happy about it.
McGregor would’ve been disappointed shortly after as the scrum was interrupted, and no gloves were dropped, but it was still hilarious to see his sheer excitement for a scrum on the ice.
The New York Rangers started the game well, and after 20 minutes of play, they were already up 3-1. An Ovechkin-less Washington Capitals couldn’t edge closer than a one-goal difference in the third period and eventually lost 5-3.
Conor McGregor was spotted by cameras several times during the game–not only during the scrum–and he seemed to enjoy the show at MSG.
The UFC legend is currently the coach in the 31st season of ”The Ultimate Fighter.” Later this year, he will face off against the other coach of the season, Michael Chandler, in a post-season fight.
