Artyom Ivanyuzhenkov moved to the US to play for Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL in 2017. He stayed in the States for three seasons and even went to the AHL, where he played two games for the San Jose Barracuda.
Ivanyuzhenkov didn’t record a single point in the league, and since 2020, he’s played in the KHL. This season, the forward has three points in 36 games, but now, he’s in the spotlights for completely different reasons, as horrific news is coming from Russia.
According to the Russian outlet Championat, Ivanyuzhenkov is suspected of stabbing a 23-year-old man to death during a birthday celebration in Moscow. Multiple witnesses have accordingly connected the 24-year-old hockey player to the murder.
According to the outlet, Ivanyuzhenkov is wanted, and he’s said to have escaped to the town of Sochi.
What caused Ivanyuzhenkov to stab the man to death is unknown.
Ivanyuzhenkov is the son of Boris Ivanyuzhenkov, former Minister of Sport in Russia.
Artyom Ivanyuzhenkov has, since his escape to Sochi, published a video on social media where he denies the accusations against him.
”False lies are spreading on Internet about me committing a crime in Moscow. Don’t believe in any information that’s not confirmed. I’m on a training camp in Sochi for the third day. This investigation will clear my name,” he said.
