Sidney Crosby’s incredible quotes about a 15-year-old Connor McDavid have gone viral; he knew what would happen 12 years ago

The Edmonton Oilers looked beaten, losing the three first games of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Florida Panthers.

But since, Connor McDavid has carried the Oilers to history, and on Monday, they attempt to accomplish something not done in the NHL since 1942.

The Oilers look to become the first team based in Canada to win the Stanley Cup since the 1993 Montreal Canadiens, but they can also become the second team in history, together with the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs, to win the championship after losing the first three games of the Final.

Connor McDavid didn’t register a point in Game 6, but he’s not been held without a point in back-to-back games this entire postseason.

McDavid is a three-time league MVP, and if he were to lead the Oilers to a championship tonight, it would be no doubt who is this year’s Conn Smythe Trophy Award winner.

McDavid has cemented his place among the greatest in NHL history with his performance this playoff run.

He has the most assists all-time in a single playoff season and also became the first player with back-to-back four-point games in the Stanley Cup final in Games 4 and 5.

He’s fourth for points in a playoff year, only behind Wayne Gretzky (twice) and Mario Lemieux.

It’s taken some time for McDavid to make a push like this with the Oilers, but it’s no surprise that it’s finally happening.

McDavid has been the best player in the world for years, and even before he was drafted, there was a lot of hype around him.

Now, some quotes from Sidney Crosby in 2012(!) have gone viral, proving what a great hockey eye Sid the Kid really has.

During the 2012 NHL lockout, there wasn’t much hockey on TV, and Sidney Crosby needed to watch his hockey. With the time spared, Crosby had time to watch some highlights from Connor McDavid, who was playing with the Erie Otters at the time.

”Got some time on my hands these days,” Crosby said. ”I’ve seen him. I’ve seen highlights of him.”

The reporter had to confirm: Did the best player in the world really watch YouTube highlights of a 15-year-old kid named Connor McDavid?

”Yep,” Crosby said.

The most remarkable part of the interview with Crosby about a young McDavid was when Sid the Kid was asked if McDavid reminded him of anyone.

His answer was unforgettable.

”He reminds me of me,” Crosby said.

On social media, the 12-year-old posts have gone viral, with McDavid making history in the playoffs and leading the Oilers to a historic Game 7.
